Within the scope of the “Report and Action Plan on Industrial Hemp Cultivation in Turkey” by the General Directorate of Industry and Productivity of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, opinions were requested regarding the use of hemp in industry and a meeting was held on March 26, 2019. Our association was represented at the meeting by our Sustainable and Environmentally Friendly Raw Materials Consultant Nebahat Kılıç and our External Relations Officer Fatih Uyar. The issues related to the opinions expressed are below.

  1. If hemp is used as a raw material, which part of the hemp plant will be used (seed, stem, fiber etc.)
  • Products suitable for production
  • Whether raw or semi-processed hemp will be used in production (such as raw hemp oil)

  1. Estimated cost analysis for hemp product production.
  2. Which part of the hemp plant should be offered to the market at what cost in order for production to be sustainable (For example: Hemp seed 10,000 TL/ton or hemp stalk 1000 TL/ton)
  3. Production Technology to be Used
  4. The need for agricultural mechanization
  5. Post-production market research
  6. What needs to be done to develop the hemp-based industry
